Applied Stats:
1. Finish anything needed for the Probability Films. See Mr. Flavin for film/recording equipment if necessary. Ms. Mulheron (room 30 A) or Mr. Brogaard (room 35) can open the storeroom if needed.
2. Use Photoshop to create DVD packaging for your movie if you are finished. Template available at: http://duplication.mimeo.com/action/DownloadsView
3. Work on things for PLUS or Mrs. Bruck if you finish the DVD cover.
4. Be ready to start next unit on Monday.


E2020 Lab:
1. Students should login and begin working.

PLUS:
1. Continue work on stop motion animations.
2. Store photos in the thawspace on multiple machines so more than one person can edit the movie.
3. Get tripods from Mr. Flavin if needed. Battery for Camera 2 is charging and can be found near where the supply cart was located. The sub can get other cameras out of my desk.


Art Technology:
Note: Make sure to shut down all machines and put up chairs at the end of the day.
1. Continue work on your vector illustration. Be ready to start working in Illustrator on Monday.
2. Turn in any missing work listed on the grade reports given to you yesterday.
3. If done, do an online Photoshop tutorial for extra credit. Google search ‘Photoshop Tutorials’ or look at sites like www.good-tutorials.com, www.photoshopcafe.com etc and find something you want to learn. Complete the tutorial, print a copy of it and turn it in.

Additionally, you must write a brief summary of:
(a) The steps involved,
(b) What you learned,
(c) How you would use the skill in another project.

APPLIED STATS:
Finish Production Plans and submit to sub. Any group that wants to begin filming must turn in both production plans in order to film. After turning in the Production Plans, you must fill out an Equipment Checkout Sheet in order film in locations other than Room 32.

STEP Plus Arts:
Finish up Stop Motion Animations. Be sure to save your iMovie file and picture folder on a flash drive or other backup disk so you can continue editing as you do audio.


ART TECHNOLOGY 1:

De-saturate and Re-color Composition

1. Start a Photoshop document measuring 5.5 x 8.5 inches @ 300 dpi.

2. Use only approved, copyright-free image resources, or your own photos and drawings. Use the same process we followed for the Movie Poster.

3. Develop a composition of your choice, that features the following criteria:
• A minimum of 5 separate images composited together, as evidenced via a source links document.
• A minimum of 5 instances of de-saturation and re-coloring.
• The composition must demonstrate symmetrical, asymmetrical or radial balance.
• Your de-saturation and re-coloring must follow one of these color schemes: monochromatic, complementary, analogous, split complement, triad, tetrad. Click this link to see the color notes on our Tumblr page!

Desaturate and Recolor Sampler

1. Use the van pix on the Shared Art Tech folder. stepstushare > Art Technology > Art tech 1 > DESATURATE & RECOLOR.

2. Place the van in a new environment.

3. Use selection tools to isolate areas for re-coloring. Pick at least 5 things to be recolored in the picture--either the van or the background.

4. Save selections in the Paths panel, by clicking on the 'handlebar circle' at the bottom of the panel.

5. Desaturate and recolor the items. REALLY experiment with the opacity and blend mode of brushes and layers.

6. Include at least one pattern or gradient fill layer.

7. On the back of your paper, list which items were recolored, and which tools you used to achieve the effect.

Movie Poster Write-up
Answer the questions below. Use complete sentences in your responses.
1. How does your poster represent the genre you chose?
2. What does your poster tell the audience about the movie?
3. Describe the VISUAL HIERARCHY in your design. What is the point of emphasis? What are the secondary and tertiary accents? Refer to Chapter 2 in Basics of Design if needed.
4. What type of BALANCE is used in your poster? How can the viewer see that?
5. Name at least one CONTRAST technique you used. Refer to page 44 in Basics of Design for a list.
6. Describe how you used at least one tool from each category of tools on the back of your Movie Poster assignment sheet and where it can be seen.
7. Print a hard copy of your write up and turn in.
8. Save your bibliography as a separate word document. Submit electronically with your movie poster PDF.



To save your movie poster to PDF file:
1. Verify your layered Photoshop document is saved in its final state.
2. Go to Layer>Flatten Image.
4. Go to File>Save As
5. Name your file: lastname_movieposter
6. Select Photoshop PDF in the Format menu.
7. Hit Save.


To submit PDF file for printing:
1. Make a file folder with your name on it.
2. Place the PDF of your movie poster and your bibliography into the folder.
3. Access the StepStuDrop server through the shortcut in the dock. (If the shortcut is not in the dock, go to the Finder program. Select Go>Connect to server. Pick afp://stepstushare Login as yourself. Under the ‘select volumes to mount’ options, pick studrop.)
4. Open the STEP folder, then the Art Technology folder.
5. Drag your folder into the folder marked MOVIE POSTER PDFs and BIBLIOGRAPHIES.
6. I will print the files as they are submitted.
